My Latest Curtain Obsession

So, remember how I said I wanted black and white buffalo plaid curtains for my dining room?  Yeah, I still haven't found any.  It's so frustrating to know exactly what you want and not be able to find it, or you find it and can't afford it.  Either option stinks.  Anyway, I am still on the lookout for my buffalo plaid, but I've also recently become obsessed with bold black and white stripe curtains.  The first ones I noticed were in Khloe Kardashian's breakfast nook.  I can't find a picture, but they really struck my fancy.  Now, I notice them everywhere.  I just can't get enough.

And what about these?

Aren't they all just wonderful?  I love the bold look, but I'm not sure if they would work in my dining room.  The first photo is my favorite.  That lime green paint with the bold stripe looks amazing!!!  I actually considered repainting my kitchen and dining room to a bright limey/apple green, but I'm afraid my Hubby would have a fit.  I would have to plan it out and get started while he was at work without telling him.  He's walk in and I'd say, "Ta da!  What do you think?"  I'm sure that would be fine with some husbands, but mine always wants to be involved in the decorating decisions.  You see, he was raised by a space planner/interior designer so he always has an opinion.  I'm afraid to even ask how he feels about bright green paint.

So, what's you latest decorating obsession?

  1. I like the bold look of those black and white striped curtains. I'm not obsessed with anything right now and that's a good thing!

  2. Apple green is awesome, in my opinion! And I like the bold striped curtains. Girl, you could so make those yourself! I'll bet you could use dropcloth as your fabric (super-cheap) or you may have fabric in your stash that would work. Good luck with pulling it off!

  3. I've let my husband be involved in decorating for too many years. I've always regretted the kitchen cabinets he talked me into. I'm not saying my decisions are always perfect either, but . . .

These are some wild curtains! With your sewing skills, you should be able to make whatever you want -- if you can find the fabric.

  4. I love the striped curtains! I think you should just go for it! If he hates it, tell him he can repaint it himself...which means he probably never would, right? I bet you could sew some of those curtains yourself for super cheap too!

  5. Ironically, I'm on an apple green kick myself. I just switched out all of my red accents in the kitchen to green for a while. That's why I love my yellow walls. They afford so many accent color options.

I can't believe that a person as talented at sewing as you are doesn't make her own curtains. You could do that striped thing easily!

(And I love buffalo plaid, too.)

  6. LOVE those curtains! I also hate knowing exactly what I want and then not being able to find/afford it!

My current obsession is just getting my house not to look so ghetto. Seriously.
