Halloween is here!

Halloween is here! WOO HOO! Things will be a little different this year because hubby and I are heading out of town for my high school reunion. I hate that they picked Halloween weekend, but oh well!

The girls had to dress up for dance so we took a few picks and my oldest son had to dress up for cub scouts, so....here we go. See if you can guess who they are.

Did you get them? My oldest is a Dallas Cowboy football player (pretty easy), my son is Mario and my youngest is Fancy Nancy. Not everyone knows who Fancy Nancy is, so we got a lot of confused looks and questions about what "kind" of princess is she?

My youngest son had a party at school today so hopefully I will get to add his pictures later.

I'm off to wait in line for the dreaded flu shot. UGH! Have a great weekend!

Halloween Party and New Christmas Designs

Halloween is almost here and that means the annual Halloween Party my son's school puts on. The kids had a great time playing games, jumping in the bouncy houses and riding the horse.

I also had a little time this week to make a few new skirts. These will be for sale on my etsy site soon, or you can contact me for info.

The first is the Christmas Snowflower twirl skirt with white underskirt. I LOVE this one!

This one is the Jewel Tones twirl skirt with white underskirt. I adore this fabric. It's so cool and mod.

Okay. I'll close for new. This will be a super busy week with doctor's appointments and parent/teacher conferences, but I'll try and get a few more Christmas items done. I'm working on a sweet knot dress for Christmas.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

QUILT MARKET FALL 2009

The H1N1 virus invaded my household several weeks ago and wreaked havoc on my household, but FINALLY everyone is well again. So, I'm back to sewing and Box Tops and baseball, etc. Life has finally returned to normal, well MY normal anyway.

Last weekend was the 2009 International Quilt Market in Houston, so I have spent the last week researching the best new fabrics coming out and I am sooo excited! Paula Prass has a gorgeous new line coming out called Woodland Delight.

Amy Butler's Love

and Pillow and Maxfield's new Large Whimsy - GORGEOUS!

as well as MANY others by Heather Bailey, Sandi Henderson and the list goes on and on. I can't wait to get my hands on some of these new fabrics.

THOU SHALT NOT COVET! THOU SHALT NOT COVET! THOU SHALT NOT COVET!

We'll now take a break from my desires and focus on what I have done this week. Please excuse these horrible pictures! I desperately need a new camera and a new model - or at least one that hadn't just woken from a nap!

Again, please excust this horrible blurry picture! These were done for a great friend.

and my model in Heather Bailey Freshcut Big Ruffle pants! LOVE THIS FABRIC!

and another bib and burpie special ordered for a friend

And I thought I didn't get much accomplished this week.

This was a special order for her daughter's birthday. It was done a few weeks ago, but it turned out so cute I just had to share it. Sorry it's not being modeled but since it was an order, I didn't want my model to wear it before the birthday girl! It's reversible with pink dot on the back. TOO CUTE!

Gotta get busy this week though. Getting ready for the big Holiday at Hurricane Christmas show! Gotta get to sewing!

Have a great week everyone! Smooch on your babies! They grow up way to fast!

Have I Mentioned I Have Strong Feelings for My Mailman?

It is true! I have VERY stong feelings for my postman, strong and very confusing feelings! Picture this: all is quiet in the house. It's around 1:00 p.m. and the kids are napping. Finally, a little quiet time. I can sew or do laundry, or finally eat lunch. I am enjoying the quiet when all of a sudden, without warning, BAM! BAM! BAM! on the door and then DING-DONG-DING-DONG on the doorbell! Startled, I jump up from my chair. I'm not sure whether to dial 911 or run to the door. I pause to think and then BAM! BAM! BAM! again. I run to the door just as the doorbell rings AGAIN! I open the door and there he stands, my 60ish mailman. He says nothing but shoves a package in my hands and mutters something under his breath as he turns and walks away. It sounds like, "Have a nice day". Are you kidding me? Have a nice day????? First of all, you scare me to death, probably woke my daughter from her nap with your banging and doorbell ringing and then you tell me to "Have a nice day"! UGH! I am so livid, I can't even utter a word in response. UGH! I shut the door and I am so made that I could SCREAM! I need to make a sign that says "Don't knock, if you wake the kids, they're going home with you!" Just kidding! Anyway, I look down to see I am holding something in my hands. It's a box. It's from JonaG! YEA! Look what that nice mailman brought me! Oh, wait a minute. For a split second I forgot I was mad! I'm not sure whether to run after him and hug him or run after him and give him a piece of my mind! My thoughts are interrupted by the sound of a sleepy cry from my little one. So much for the quiet.

This is what that nice/annoying mailman brought me! Can't wait to get started on some cute Christmas stuff with this Christmas Snowflower fabric! YEA!

First Day of Dance

September is always crazy at my house. School is in full swing and all of the activites start. My youngest started dance with her big sister this year. Although my oldest daughter detests anything girly, and because of this takes hip-hop, my younger one is still a girly girl. She was excited about her leotard and her dance shoes, especially her tap shoes. Here she is ready for dance!

My son also started baseball practice this week. He is at his second practice tonight and his first game is Saturday. It's going to be interesting. Most of the boys on his team have played before so he is going to have to work hard to catch up. I'm really excited about taking four kids to the ballpark on Saturday. FUN! FUN! (Okay, it's hard to get sarcasm across in writing). Anyway, more abou that later.

Speaking of J.P. and practice, they are on their way home. I better go act like I've been busy cleaning the kitchen from our yummy chicken and dumplins! YUM! Have a look see.

Looks good right? Just like grandma used to make? Well, this is just like my Hubby's grandma used to make. YUM! Sure was good!

Okay, gotta go clean up the huge mess in the kitchen! I just hate it when you roll out dough on your countertop and you're left with a big 'ole mess of dried up dough. YUCK!

Finally, a listing

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend. Hubby had to work so we are staying at home this weekend instead of partying at the lake with family. It's been enjoyable to be home with the kids, that is until I try to get something done.

I did finally manage to get a listing on my etsy site. I'm still having some questions about PayPal, but I'm working on that! This is a picture of the listing.

It's a double layer twirl skirt. I LOVE the polka dots on the bottom layer and so much TWIRL! This is a OOAK as I used all of the fabric on this one. The top has a witch's hat appliqued in matching fabric and ric rac.

I've got to get to work on more Halloween outfits and get them listed also. This is going to be a busy week.

I am getting off of here to go TRY and spend time with my hubby. He is busy drafting players for his Fantasy Football team tonight. Maybe I'll be able to talk to him while he's waiting for his turn to pick. I also need to go get my Big Brother fix for the night. Reality TV, here I come. Then Mad Men later. WOO HOO!

Goodnight folks! Have a good holiday weekend!

September is sports season

Fall has finally arrived and for us that means football - Dallas Cowboy football to be more specific. Hubby and I took a trip to Dallas to see our beloved Cowboys play last weekend. FUN! FUN!

We left Saturday morning and headed to Dallas. We were excited about the football game, but also excited to go eat at what might be my new favorite "Dive". Hubby and I love the show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri on HGTV. A few weeks ago, we were watching the show when they featured a 'dive" called Twisted Root Burger Company in the Deep Elum district of Dallas. They make 1/2 pound burgers and "twisted" versions of common condiments/sides.

This place is full of personality! The walls were covered with signs - most of them sarcastic in nature - such as "Clean Restrooms/Dirty Minds" and "Loaded Burgers/Poor Staff" - which is posted on the window. When we got there, the line was out the door. We waited while listening to the annoucer from inside calling out names like Madonna, Sonny and Cher. You get a "name" when you order instead of a number. We were "Cheech".

The burges were awesome!!! The rootbeer was wonderful (cinammon/pecan) and the twisted ketchup was great too (with chipotle). We will definitely be back! Maybe next time, I'll get to be Pamela Anderson's name shen I order. We look so much alike and all! HA!

After lunch and checking into the hotel, it was finally time for...dramatic pause....Cowboy Stadium. We couldn't wait to see it in person! They are working on the roads around Cowboy stadium, so it was a little crazy. We were armed with driving directions and Betty, our trusty GPS. After an hour of driving in circles, we finally found it. There she was, Cowboy Stadium. She was even more magnificent than on TV.

The stadium was awesome, although I did have a hard time keeping my eyes on the field instead of the HUGE screen. The food was good. The game was good, until the last 4 minutes when the 49ers scored again and it was all downhill from there. So, the boys didn't win, but at least this is only the preseason. Better luck next time guys!

It was a great trip, but I was sure ready to get home to my babies. It's amazing how an exausting 31 hours away makes you miss them so much. Thanks Mom for watching the kids!

Have a great night!

1st Day of School

So, here we are. The first day of school has arrived. It was a very long day! I was up at 5:50 a.m. to cook a real breakfast - bacon, eggs and biscuits. Okay, so my hubby cooked the eggs, but I did the rest. Anyway, the kids ate well, for once, on a school day. Usually, breakfast consists of cereal or a Pop-Tart, but I try to be a good mom at least a couple of times a year. After all of the eating and dressing and gathering of backpacks, we actually got out of the driveway three minutes early. YEA!!! That almost never happens. (I'm one of those people who is late everywhere I go) After dropping off three kids at three different schools, I had the day to myself. Well, I had one kid at home, so practically by myself.
So, what did I do today? I spent some much needed time with my little one. I caught up on laundry and was able to get some sewing done as well. Then, I got to go sit in the school pick-up line for over an hour (again at three different schools). Everyone had a good day. My oldest started middle school today. I was a little concerned about the switching classes, but she made it through unscathed. YEA! My oldest son had a good day but reported that, "someone was mean to me". I asked who was mean to him and finally got the answer that it was "some lady teacher". Apparently he got into trouble for playing in the office chairs in the computer lab. I know they are so much fun to roll around in, but I explained that he shouldn't "play" in them again.
All and all, it was a good day. I guess tomorrow we'll be back to Pop-Tarts.

Here Goes Nothing!

Okay, so here we are.....my first post. I always dreamed of being a writer. I even started a few books, but I'm not much of a finisher. So, I thought, since I live in a house full of kids (four, to be exact) and I often talk to myself (as I am the only adult around to talk to during the day), I'd just try this blogging thing. I figure, what's the difference in talking to myself and typing to myself.

This blog will mostly be about my family and our adventures in parenthood. I am the mother of four children, including one with special needs (my son is autistic). I am married to my very best friend and I have a total crush on him. I am a stay at home mom, a school volunteer, and an indie children's wear designer (hence the blog name, also my business name). I love my life.

Speaking of FrouFrouBritches, I started on the first of several Halloween outfits today. It turned out really cute. I just love this Alexander Henry fabric. It looks like little Victorian children dressed up and trick or treating - TOO CUTE!

Okay. It's snack and night night time at my house. We've got to get back on the school schedule - only one more week of freedom. After that, I must indulge myself in my reality TV habit. Big Brother, here I come.
Goodnight all.
