The Last Lake Visit of the Summer

Well, summer is coming to an end.  Fall officially starts tomorrow and this weekend was our last visit to the lake.  We were there to celebrate our family birthdays.  My "C" will be 13 on Wednesday.  I will have a teenager.  She wanted one last visit at the lake for her birthday, so Mom played party hostess.  C wanted grilled burgers and guacamole for lunch and wanted pumpkin pie instead of birthday cake.  I looked all over town for pumpkin (which consists of two stores) and was told they don't stock canned pumpkin until closer to Thanksgiving.  Hmmmmm.  So, she opted for Dirt Cake with sour gummy worms instead.

It was also my nephew "M"'s birthday yesterday, so we celebrated his birthday as well.  He opted for banana pudding.

The birthday kids blowing out their candles.

M's favorite gift - his new Iron Man helment!

C loved her new jelly watch and peacock rain boots!

After lunch, presents and dessert, we did a little of this:

and a little of this

We all had a fabulous day.  Then we went back to the house to find this:

Who knew butterflies like ketchup?

Also, my Razorbacks beat the Georgia Bulldogs in the last minutes of the game.  They just barely pulled it out.  Sadly, my Cowboys weren't so lucky.  Better luck next time guys!

What did y'all do for the last official weekend of the summer?

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful time celebrating birthdays and the last weekend of summer!!! Yay!!!

Let's see...I went to a women's conference on Saturday and spent the rest of the weekend enjoying spending time with our 15 yr old daughter who was with us for the weekend. We really treasure these weekends especially since her school and activity schedule being so busy that she has only been able to come to our house once a month for the past two months. :(

God has blessed our special time together though. We had a wonderful visit!

  2. What a fun weekend you had with all your family! I love your daughters rain boots. So cute!

We didn't do anything summery. I helped my daughter paint the trim in her kitchen and bedrooms on Saturday while listening to our Bulldogs lose in the last minute. :( Sunday we gathered at my mom's for our usual family Sunday dinner and visiting. Not very exciting but since I actually enjoy painting, I had fun.

  4. What a great weekend. I wish I had a lake to go to! We're closer to the beach, but that's no fun at all at 48. Rolls my eyes...

I love those rain boots! My daughters would both love them too. Two thumbs up for your teenager.
(who is already pretty, btw! Better put her in the closet with a brick on her head...or buy Dad a big stick...)

AND I read on "Blues Skies" (blog) in the comment section that there is a SHORTAGE of pumpkin this year. Oh NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Sounds like the perfect end to Summer. Friday night, my grandson spent the night for the first time in his little 4 1/2 month life, then I spent Saturday taking my Mom home from yet another hospital visit. Church yesterday, and cooking supper for my brother. Oh, and I also cut his hair for him. Not really the stuff of "end of summer" dreams, but it was ok.
