GETTING READY FOR SNOW AND A GIVEAWAY YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT!

Good morning friends.  My friend Mike, who also happens to be our local weather guy, is forecasting at least 6" of snow starting tomorrow.  What does that mean?  Let the madness begin!  Check out this video:

I do realize that this is a Dodge commercial, but did you notice how the crazy people reacted with the screaming and the clearing the shelves in the grocery store?  Yep, that's pretty much how it happens here in Arkansas when people hear the word "snow".  It doesn't matter if the forecast is just for flurries, people around here go completely bananas.  NUTS!  INSANE!  CRAZY!  The Kroger parking lot was literally completely filled up last night.  So, wish me luck as I am heading out to get groceries this morning.  I hope there is still some food left on the shelves.

Another thing about snow around here is that school is always out when it snows.  Temperatures are not supposed to be above freezing until Saturday.  What does that mean?  Most likely, no school Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  That means I'll be home with the kids for five days.  I know for some of y'all, that sounds like a wonderful thing.  For me, it sounds like being locked up in the monkey cage at the zoo for 5 days - little monkeys running around swinging from the ceilings, switching the lights on and off just for fun, pulling food out of the already unorganized pantry, bickering back and forth and smack dab in the middle of the cage will be me, silently crying and rocking back and forth in the fetal position.  Yep.  Welcome to my life.  I don't even want to think about what happens if we lose electricity.  L without DVD's is NOT a pretty sight.

One final thing before I am off on my grocery buying expedition.  Someday Crafts is having an awesome giveaway that y'all might be interested in.    It's from My Vinyl Designer.  This is a company run by SAHM's that.  They make "affordable vector designs that can be downloaded instantly" and they are compatible with Cricut and Silhouette.  Cool, huh?  Check it out!  It's $172 value.  Um, yes please.  Click here for more info.

Okay, y'all have a good day.

  1. I can relate. It's like that around here when snow is forecasted (North Carolina). We have so many newcomers in my area from New York and New Jersey and they laugh at us.
    Stay warm :)

  2. Well good luck girl... Loved your post. Thanks for the laughs. We are already out of school early here. It is coming down like crazy! Maybe the Mr. will get to come home early too! Now that I would love.

    Keep Warm!

  3. Snow again?? My goodness, it seems like this has been the snowiest winter of the century! I always love ONE snow day. More than one gets to be a bit much--and my kids are big! Good luck with your monkey business!

  4. I'll admit it. I'm envious of your snow. ;) Not envious about being stuck in the house with the kids, b/c I remember that hell from last winter...but one snow day every once in a while, a real snow day where we can't go anywhere, is kind of nice. Hope you guys brave it!

Thanks for the heads up on the neat Giveaway! :)

  5. Hopefully the weathermen get it wrong and you'll just have one snow day instead of three! Good luck!

  6. That is exactly like what happens here!!! I used to live in PA and we only closed school one time and it was during a true blizzard. I have to laugh at us Arkansans.
I didn't know you were a personal friend of Mike. Lucky you. He seems like a really nice guy.

  7. I am officially jealous. I think the snow is going to miss my area again. We haven't had a real snow since before Christmas. For your sake, I hope you don't get as much as they are forcasting.

  8. We were supposed to get about 3" Sunday night, and all the moms were in terror of yet another snow day on Monday (after 3.5 last week). Fortunately it was a false alarm.
Around here, the weathermen sometimes call a snow forecast a "French toast" day, because everybody rushes out to stock up on milk and eggs.

  9. Snow snow go away! You have had a lot of snow days. Do you have to make those days up at the end of the year?
