BBQ Pork Sandwich

I love BBQ pork sandwiches, but it cost a small fortune to get it from my favorite BBQ place.  Also, I'm not sure what's in their sauce and having a child on a special diet, I have to know the ingredients.  So, I make my own.  It's easy and a lot cheaper.  I combined several recipes for this recipe.

Buy a pork shoulder roast.  Salt and pepper the roast.  Put it in the crock pot with a can of beef broth, a large quartered onion and a little garlic (I'm lazy so I used the minced garlic in the jar, but not the dried kind).  Let the roast cook on low for about 8 hours.  Take out the roast and shred it with a fork.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Put pork in a pan with a raised edge and pour your favorite BBQ sauce (I use Sweet Baby Ray's because it's GFCF for "L") on top and stir.

Cover pan with foil and bake for 30 minutes, stiring half way through cooking time.  Let your pork cool and make your sandwich.

YUM!!

  1. That sounds delicious... very similar to how I do it. I add the sauce into the shredded meat in the crock pot. I will try your way next time I do this. I bet baking it in at the end gets the meat really covered.

  2. My mouth has some kind of allergic reaction to the vinegars in barbecue sauce. Have you ever tried to find a sauce without vinegar in it?! Crikey. Boo, me.

  4. I love bbq sandwiches too. Have you tried The Neeley's hot bbq sauce? It is really good too. I mix it with the sweet. We are from the south and we are kinda picky about our sauce:)

  5. I love BBQ pork! We make that a lot out at our place, and if I don't make our own sauce we make sure we have some Sweet Baby Rays on hand as well! Your method looks easier than mine, I'm going to give it a try :)
