A Little Bit of Everything

So, I had a wonderful weekend.  Hubby and I got very spontaneous and packed a bag and hopped a plane to NYC for the weekend.....yeah right!  In my dreams!  What did we really do?  Not much.  My weekend consisted of taking care of my sick babies.  L was sick last weekend and apparently thought it would be a good idea to share his germs with his little sister.  Fever and pukey kids always make for such an interesting and exausting weekend.  Poor baby!

I did manage to get a little sewing done, which I'll share later in the week when I'm done.  The rest of my weekend consisted of my Hubby hogging the computer so he could keep an eye on his fantasy football league (both of them) and a HUGE pot of chicken 'n dumplins.  My sis and BIL went to the Arkansas game and I guess they were good luck, because we WON!  WOO HOO!  WOOOOOOOOO PIG SOOIE!

Does everyone have their kids' Halloween costumes in order?  Here is my dilemma with Halloween costumes.  I'm cheap.  I don't want to spend $25 on a costume they'll wear one night.  I used to buy my kids a new costume every year, back when I only had two kids.  Now that I have four, I just can't spend $100 for one night of wear.  So, I usually end up transforming real clothes into their costumes.  J was Mario last year.  Instead of buying the $20 costume at Wal-Mart, we bought him overalls and used a red shirt and hat he already had.  This year he decided he needed to be Luigi.  I found a green shirt at Target for $5, but I couldn't find a green hat.  So, my Hubby suggested I dye a white one.  I found a white cap at Wal-Mart, but the only dye they had was Lime Green.  Hmmmm.  So, I decided to paint his hat with craft paint that I already had.  It's not perfect, but it's gonna be dark anyway, right?

Again, not perfect, but cheap!  It does need a few touch-ups though.

I have one more thing I want to share with y'all today.  My new friend Julie sent me this picture of the Witchy Feet shirt she made for her daughter, Lindsey, after seing my Witchy Feet Tee

Didn't she do a great job?  It's sew cute and Lindsey is ADORABLE!!!!  Thanks Julie for sharing this with me.  I love it!
Hope everyone has a great day.  I'm off to stalk my little one with the thermometer.  Don't forget the Willow House Party and Giveaway is still going on.  Click here for details.

What did y'all do this weekend?

  1. Oh I'm so sorry about the sick kids! Fever that just makes them lay around is okay (I even kind of enjoy it, but don't tell!), but puke is no fun!
I've still got to figure out the costumes...I'm cheap too!

  3. I loved to make my own costumes, too. It wasn't just the price. I get jazzed by making stuff. I just got a call from the older daughter a few minutes ago asking my advice on a costume. She's 21. It guess some things never end. (at least I hope not)

That little Lindsey is adorable, and your witchy shoe inspiration is inspired yet again!

  5. Sorry about your kiddos being sick! Poor things!

We had a good weekend...got a lot done on Saturday...kitchen floor got a "down on your hands and knees" scrubbing. Floor looks great! But I am suffering from sore muscles from pulling a muscle in my back. Ouch! But I am starting to feel better today. Yay! As tomorrow is my birthday this is a very good thing! :-)

Come visit my blog when you have a minute...I am celebrating my birthday there today!

Hope you kiddos feel better soon!

  6. I hope everyone is feeling better :)

I love the hat. I'm with you..cheap! My son wants to be a ghost (easy, sheet with eyes cut out) & my daughter wants to be a princess. We've agreed on 'Halloween Princess' since I found a black tutu on sale 2 months ago. I picked up some orange crown/jewels/wand this weekend at Walmart for $5!!
We had a good weekend. Pumpkin Party at their music class..and a housewarming for some friends on Saturday. Next weekend is our Halloween carnival (lots of cheap going on there-haha)

  7. Homemade costumes are so much better than the ones from the store. And then the kids look so unique and cute! I also see a lot of costumes at thrift stores so that's also an idea for the future...

  8. I love the hat! I am so much like you about costumes. I cant bear to spend the money on something for one night. This year Lindsey wants to be a cowgirl so I can do that with real clothing since I know she will wear them again. Luke my 7 year old wants to be a dirt bike rider so that may be more difficult since the real stuff is soooooo expensive. I might have to convince him to be something else. Our town trick or treats on Thursday so I better get on it!!!!

  9. I hope that your kiddos are better soon!

I think that homemade costumes are much better than store bought ones. They have way more personality!
