My Favorite Things of 2011

I cannot believe it is almost 2012.  Wow!  This year FLEW by, didn't it?  I think the older I get, the faster it goes by.  So, I thought I would post a few of my favorite projects and recipes from the last twelve months.

Hoot Hoot Tee

Chips Container

Burlap Hanging Carrots

Ruffled Flour Sack Towel

My Big Ole Stocking

Sew Easy Infinity Scarf

Waitress Apron Tutorial

Best Ever Cinammon Rolls

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

PW Crash Hot Potatoes

Diners, Drive Ins and Dives Flappers

Buffalo Chip Cookies

Jimmy Crack Corn

Shrimp Quesadillas with Avacado Tomato Salsa

So, while I don't feel like I got much accomplished this year, at least I have a few projects that I enjoyed.  And, I obviously had my share of recipe success considering the five extra pounds I've put on this year.  UGH!

It's been a great year.  We've lost loved ones and had some hard times, but we've also had more than our share of wonderful things too.  My baby girl started school and loves it.

and we had a new addition to the family

Aren't they sweet?  That little girl on the right - she's ours.  The rest all went to their new homes.  That alone is reason for celebration.  Woo hoo!

So, tomorrow is a new year and a chance to start fresh, and hopefully take off a few pounds and get a lot done.  I'm excited to see what the new year brings.

I hope you all have a fun and safe New Year's Eve!!!

Getting Ready for Christmas Already

Well, I saw my first Hallmark Christmas commercial this morning.  Let the tears begin.  Christmas is less than two months away.  Time flies!  My week has been filled with preparing for our school's annual silent auction.  Each class is responsible for making a themed basket.  I am room mother, so I was in charge of making our basket.  Our theme this year....CHOCOLATE!  MMMMM!  So, I collected money from parents went shopping and begged for a few donations from local businesses.  I even made a small kitchen towel for the basket.

Why zebra in a chocolate basket?  Well, I was looking for a big beverage tub to put everything in, but I couldn't find one big enough that wasn't a TON of $$.  So, I went to Gordman's where I found a big basket with a zebra liner.  So, our theme became "Wild About Chocolate", and therefore the zebra towel.  I also found a green giraffe insulated cup.  I secretly wanted it for myself.  I gotta go back and get me one of those.  So cute!

This is what it looked like:

Also this week, I've been preparing for a craft show this weekend.  I've been crazy busy trying to get some things sewn up and watching over the new puppies.  I'll let ya know how it goes and I'm hoping to have a new tutorial up next week.  See ya then!  Gotta get back to sewing.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day!  I just had to include a couple of pictures of E.
She loved her Elmo Valentine's card from her Nana so much that she fell asleep with it.  SO SWEET!  And, yes, just for the record, she is almost four and she still has a pacifier, but I told her she has to give them to a new baby when she turns four next month and she only has it at bedtime.  Yes, I'm a bad mother and she will probably have to have braces.  I know!

She had obviously already been into the Valentine's chocolate.

So, I'm thinking that I'm NOT counting calories today.  It's a holiday by golly and I'm eating some chocolate.  There is a Kit Kat calling my name.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Valentine's Day Fever!

As usual, I am WAAAAY behind!  I am NOT  a good multi-tasker.  I have to take one event at a time or everything goes haywire!  UGH!  So, right now I am obsessed with picking out fabric, paint, canisters, etc. for my kitchen and trying not to think about the fact that my birthday is next week.  I hadn't even realized that it was almost Valentine's Day.  I have 23 days left, but.....that's not a whole lot of time.

Amanda at Serenity Now posted some thrifty Valentine's finds.  You can find Amanda's blog here

Angie at The Happy Homebody has the CUTEST tree in her kitchen that she decorates for the season.  It is so stinkin' CUTE!  See it here.  I could just move in to Angie's kitchen.  I LOVE IT!

Well, since I didn't get around to making E anything for Valentine's day this year (she usually gets a new outfit for every holiday), I'll just share her Valentine's Day outfit from last year.

I LOVE the fabric.  It has little vintage Valentine's printed on it.  It's cute and luckily, it still fits!  YEA!

Hope everyone has a great night!
