Let's get one thing out on the table before we even start. I don't roll out dough. I know, it's the best wasy to make pie, cobbler, etc. but it just doesn't happen at my house. I'm a little lazy. There, I said it. Moving on....
Ready for this?
3 Ingredients:
Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Yellow Cake Mix
Butter, 1 stick, not margerine!!
1 large can of cut peaches in HEAVY syrup
Dump about half the cake mix in a 9 x 13. Arrange the peaches on top of the cake mix evenly and pour the syrup on top. Pour the rest of the cake mix on top. Cut up butter into pats and place on top of the cake mix.
Bake at 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes. A few additional pats of butter may be used for any dry spots. Wanna see what it looks like all golden brown and pretty? Yeah, me too. Sadly, I'm a dork and forgot to take a picture. Sorry!
There you go. Super easy, buttery wonderfulness (I know it's not a word, but this yummy dish deserves a new word). My Hubby loves it with vanilla ice cream on top.
I've made this for years and it's one of my family's favorites. Only I usually make it with cherry pie filling. Sometimes I add a can of pineapple to it as well. And I use the entire box of cake mix on the top with two sticks of butter. My mother-in-law does it with margarine and it's just not the same is it?
ReplyDeleteI love an easy recipe like this. I don't like peaches but I'll bet it would be good with any type of fruit in heavy syrup.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm. Sounds so good. Lovin me some peaches right now. I can't wait for the local farmer's market Fifer Farms to have their annual Peach Festival! Homemade peach icecream. So good and its FREE! Can't beat that. Lol. Oh yes, and it can be a source of true holiday stress if I wait till the last min. Lol,you know what, you are like the umpteenth person that admitted they didn't really do cards last Christmas. I noticed a big decline in the number we got both family and friends. I think its the economy. Hey picture cards are the best as far as I'm concerned. We don't have children or else we would do it too. You can keep in touch with family and send greetings all at the same time.

Oh, I have to try this. I won't mention any names, but someone I know tries this a lot. It makes me gag when she puts it on the table. I think she uses about 5 tablespoons of the cake mix and the wrong canned peaches... and some light margarine substitute... and bakes it for 5 minutes. (I made all that up, but I'm guessing I probably nailed it.) It's nasty looking, let me tell you. (And PS, her banana pudding is like soup... another gag-worthy fail... both of which I refuse to put in my mouth. I'm always "watching what I eat". Ha.) You have to make this again so you can post the after picture. I'm DYING to know what it's SUPPOSED to look like! Then again, I guess I could make it myself! ;)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds right up my alley. I love short cuts that don't sacrifice on the taste.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I'm on a diet kick too so I'll have to wait until I can find someone to eat it and let me have just a bite. It sounds delicious!
OOo--easy and delicious. Right up my alley. :)
ReplyDeletewhats not to love!! and if you add some ice cream and its gotta be wonderful!!
