I Need Movie Suggestions!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, my parents gave Hubby and I a gift certificate to our favorite cabin for our anniversary trip.  Well, we scheduled our trip and we're trying to plan everything out.  Just for the record, our cabin is not like this:

The particle board flooring would mean hours of fun pulling splinters out of my feet.  AND the animals who appear to be crawling up the wall and the fold out futon do not scream romance to me.    However, they do make me wonder if a college age Grizzly Adams lives here.

No, our cabin has two leather recliners, a big stone fireplace, a small kitchen a shower big enough for ten people, nice tile, a big ole bed and a wall of windows overlooking the lake.  It's lovely.

Anyway, this cabin is a few miles from a little town with lots of cute shops so we will spend some time in town shopping and hanging out, but the other thing we like to do when we are there is hang out and watch movies.  Why?  Because we live with four needy kids who love to interrupt us while we attempt to watch a movie.  It takes us 3 hours to watch a 2 hour movie at home.  When we go to the cabin, we can have a movie marathon.  I will take The Notebook, because it is our favorites and I own it.  I also want to rent some movies to take.  This is where I need your help.  Rachel mentioned yesterday that she really liked IronMan and I know Hubby wants to see IronMan 2 so we may take that with us.  Do y'all have any more ideas for movies I should see, that maybe I haven't?   My Hubby was appalled that I hadn't seen An Officer and a Gentlemen when we met.  I still haven't seen Dances With Wolves.  Is it any good?  What is your absolute favorite movie?  What do you consider a "must see"?  An old classic?  A new release?  I want to hear it!!!  Okay, maybe not sci-fi, but anything else.  HELP!  I need suggestions.

Thanks!!!

  3. I'm not going to be much help because I rarely go to the movies and never with my husband. I have seen Dances With Wolves and loved it.

  4. I love The Seven Year Itch. Tom Ewell is brilliant!!! I know Marilyn Monroe is supposed to be the *star*, but he is just plain hilarious with his delusional fantasies. :)

  5. I'm guessing that you DON'T want Super Hero movies, right?

For me, I hated Dances with Wolves in a big way. I endured it to the end, but that's because I hate to quit at things. Blechy.

If you have a need for Kevin Cosner, Field of Dreams is so much better in my opinion. I love that movie.

I'm trying to think of movies that both the husband and I like...

You've Got Mail is my favorite (light hearted) movie made in that last 20 years, but you've probably seen that.

How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days is hilarious.

    For Drama, I love
    Steel Magnolias
    Places in the Heart
    The Green Mile

Of course, you've probably seen all of these.

    I'm still thinking.

  7. For a feel-good drama - I loved the Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith. For romance, Love Actually is fun. Comedy, well, since the kids won't be there, The Hangover had my hubby and I laughing out loud the entire time! Drama, so many to choose from... My all time favorite is To Kill a Mockingbird b/c Gregory Peck is pure perfection. Hope you guys have a great time
