Do you frequent Craiglist? Garage/Yard sales? Estate sales? Flea Markets? I have a confession to make. I am so stinkin' jealous of you people who find cute stuff on the cheap. UGH! Look at the deals I've seen on other people's blogs that I have been stalking visiting.
GORGEOUS! LOVE IT! Traci found this at Goodwill. Cost with redo? $70. WOW! Find Traci's blog here.
Darlene at Our Creative Life found this for $200 on Craigslist. BEAUTIFUL!
Kim at Endless Possibilities found this on Craigslist for $25. She hasn't revealed the redo yet, but I'm sure it's GORGEOUS!
I, on the other hand, have been searching Craigslist and every local flea market or antique store (must check Goodwill) for a armoire/free standing pantry type piece for my dining room. I did find one at the antique store for......$1,800! Oh my Gracious! $1,800. I mean, it was a very cool, primitive piece with peeling paint, etc., but $1,800. I don't think so!
I'm checking Craigslist daily and hoping for a miracle!
I know...I don't even look at our CL anymore b/c I never see anything good (or affordable). I learned that with Salvation Army, I have to be very patient and go once a week or so if I am looking for something. That's how I scored my glass top table that I redid...bought it for $8.
ReplyDeleteAs for the jewelry, don't feel like you need to spend a lot to look cute. I'll fill you in on a secret. I get TONS of compliments on a matching wooden bead set I got on clearance at WAL-MART!! I choose "statement" earrings in a bold color, pattern, or shape and that might be all I'll wear for jewelry (besides my wedding ring) that day.
Good places to look: Target, WM, "teen" stores like Charlotte Russe.
OKay, I am totally going to do a post on this now. :)
I've found a few happy finds at Goodwill and Craig's List that have just needed a little paint and love.
ReplyDeleteWe had no furniture, so we scour these sites out of necessity. So I think I've learned that it's all about persistence...and maybe venturing out a little farther from home to the next Goodwill to see if it's better. There are some incredible grocery store sized Goodwills in Georgia!'
You should look this weekend and show us what you end up with next week! I'd love to see what you find!
I like to browse craigslist...but you do have to be patient and keep looking when you want something specific. And act fast when you see it!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.searchtempest.com/ will search craigslist in several surrounding cities for you...might help to have a bigger pool to pull from.
Thanks Holly for the tip!
