NEW VALENTINE'S KITCHEN TOWEL

Well, I was starting to feel really terrible about my lack of Valentine's decor.  Everyone has such cute stuff and I had....nothing.  Ya see, my house is only 1500 sq. ft and when you are a family of six, that's not much space.  So, I don't have a lot of storage space to put things I can only use for a month or so out of the year.  That being said, I thought hearts can be used year round and red is one of my favorite colors... so, I made this:

Nothing to cutesy and I got to use my beloved Michael Miller Dandy Damask and polka dots too?  What could be better?  It's not much, but it's better than nothing.

Look at that cute little polka dot heart.  It's heat set, but I didn't satin stitch or zig zag so it'll fray just slightly over time.  I love that!

Okay.  That's it.  I'm linking up with Frugalicious Friday , Tater Tots and JelloMake Your Monday at Twice Remembered , Making the World Cuter and DIY Day at A Soft Place to Land..  I can't wait to see what everyone else has been up to!

  1. You did a fantastic job with that! It doesn't scream valentines day, but still fits the holiday just perfectly. I also keep seeing these adorable valentine crafts on blogs and have yet to do any for myself, but I may have to try just something little, like you.

  3. Oh I LOVE that! It's not "over the top" Valentine's like so many decorative towels out there-- it's actually practical!

Don't be jealous about the snow... it turned into ice/rain. It's a slushy mess outside. My new Ugg boots are RUINED!

  7. That towel is adorable! I have always loved black and white damask and I think I have some of that same fabric. The little heart is precious! The way I have the fabric on the backs of the open shelves in my kitchen is that it is hot glued to some thin pieces of wood cut out by my husband. The paper I had on there before was just taped on. On two of them the wood piece is attached to the back of the cabinet with just one screw and the other two just happened to fit in snug enough to not need a screw. You could use that foam core stuff you were talking about and probably even cardboard. Just wrap it and adhere it on the back. Do it and I'm sure you'll love it! Let me know if I confused you and didn't make sense. I'm not a good explainer!

  8. I love a quick and easy project like this! Your towel is very cute and it's nice that you can keep it out past V'day. One of these would make a cute hostess gift, too!
