LIKE NEW TABLE

This is the table I have had sitting beside my bed for fifteen years.

It is a lovely shade of barn red, which was fine in the early 90's.  I've been thinking about painting it for several years, but haven't been brave enough to try it.  After stalking visiting my favorite decorating blogs over the past few months, I have been inspired to try it.

Today at Wal-Mart I bought some Krylon spray paint in Glossy Black.  I sprayed and sprayed and sprayed and this is what I came out with.

I changed the knob too.  What do ya think?  I might need to buy another can.  I see a few red spots peeking through just slightly.  Do you think I should paint the top black too?  I'm still trying to decide.

**Please ignore all the cords stretching from the phone outlet to the computer.**

  2. I'm a big fan of black spray paint myself! I think it looks great! I have been on the lookout for bedside tables too! Great job!

  3. Looks great! Flash photography always shows imperfections in spray painted items that you can't necessarily see in real life, so unless you're unhappy with it in person, I wouldn't bother to repaint.
I kind of like the contrasting top, but it would look good painted, too. One alternative to painting it would be to stain it a darker color.

  4. I love it just the way it is! It looks really great. I would leave the contrasting top wood.

  5. It looks great! I'm glad you changed the knob, because the old one wouldn't have worked. I'm with the previous-commenter who said you should just stain the wood a little darker, but otherwise leave it natural.

  6. LOVE glossy black! It looks great! I like the top being different. Here's a fun finish I did with some end tables that I painted the bottoms black, and did a faux leather finish on the top... http://this-istheyear.blogspot.com/2009/05/mod-podge-mania.html

  7. Very pretty! I liked the red, but I know how you get tired of something and want a change. Isn't spray paint great!

  12. Ooh if the red is peeking through it might give it a fun distressed look. Love it though!

  13. Indeed the table looks nice beside the bed. The color also matched with your bedding. What type of bed skirt do you like? I personally like velcro bed skirt. Anyway I enjoy so much spending sometime in your super organized blog world. Thanks for sharing.
